Judas Equus recorded the thirteen tracks that make up Pilgrim/Infidel with a lo-fi, “warts and all” approach, recording onto an analog four-track recorder, using second hand microphones bought at the local flea market. Instrumentally, the core of accoustic guitars and organ is augmented by an unlikely array of candidates ranging from lap steel to stylophone to distorted electronic drums. The atmosphere created is at once intimate and dilapidated, and is reinforced by the lyrical content, in which mythology becomes entangled and confused with reality.
