The Psychologist
03:48
|
|||
I earn my daily grain from the troubles people have.
They come to my room, I try to find a way
To put their wrongs to right, make sense of what has
Been wearing away the threads and the seams.
A sponge to soak the liquid up and throw it down the drain when you ask.
Some understanding, words commending, diary entries buried beneath the ground.
I spent so many years to have letters beside my name.
It does little for the cause, prepares for not much else.
Share secrets in the dark, the countless memories
That are written in the files, in paper and in mind.
A sponge to soak the liquid up and throw it down the drain when you ask.
Some understanding, words commending, diary entries buried beneath the ground.
So I’ll find a way to put all those things right,
To open up the blinds and let in some light.
Until that very day when I hand back the keys
I’ll try to find a way to put my wrongs to right.
A sponge to soak the liquid up and throw it down the drain when you ask.
Some understanding, words commending, diary entries buried beneath the ground.

A Change
04:03
|
|||
The stickers on the window are there to surprise but it depends on your view
And you can’t avoid the fees for the toilet if you want to find relief.
I think it’s time for a change because the wheels are turning and one day they’ll turn away.
The gap is a figment of your imagination and you can get right at the seams.
Perspectives can change when you loosen your grip and what’s important soon comes clear.
I think it’s time for a change because the clock is ticking and one day it’ll tick away.
I don’t want to say that I have the answers because the questions remain but from to time I try a different angle and see how the pictures change.
It’s a struggle all the time and that’s alright, that’s okay with me.
It’s a guarantee that pushes and pulls from behind me.
I think it’s time for a change because the wind is blowing and one day we’ll blow away.
I think it’s time for a change because the wind is blowing and one day we’ll blow away.

In The Air
02:15
|
|||
In the air surrounded by a breeze.
Exposed but feeling free.
Legs are busy, they pedal all day
As the wheels go round.
I feel as small as an ant
On a lonely trail.
My thoughts are lost in the air
And they blow away.
Changing scenes from forest to streets.
Unattached from any routine.
My home travels with me
Until the evening arrives.
That’s the time for settling down
Until the very next morning.
In the air surrounded by a breeze.
Exposed but feeling free.

In The Moments
02:35
|
|||
In the moments when it seems the best way
To attack is to run away.
We all have some problems
Some bigger, some worse
But it’s how we pull through
That makes us strong.
To forget is to lie
But it would be nice
To bury the past
Beneath a flower bed.
I’m booking a flight
I’m not coming back
But can I travel
Without this bag on my back?

Lie Down
03:55
|
|||
I never share a light
That comes out of
What is gained from those
Whose presence is felt.
When you lie down for a while
That stretches for longer than they said
Then the words come with nothing in the way
Then the modals come too late.
When your hands grow frail
Loosened of their grip
On the things you never thought
Would be so hard to let go of.
When you lie down for a while
That stretches for longer than they said
Then the words come with nothing in the way
Then the modals come too late.
When your breathing slows
To a resting pace
I hope that what is now
Will not repeat itself.

Incident At Night
03:02
|
|||
I avoided the main streets but I couldn’t avoid the light
That soon caught up with me on that infamous night.
I was taking a short cut with the morning on my mind.
You were only thinking about the numbers next to your name.
I hope you feel better and I hope that you sleep well at night.
I know my own flaws but I thought you would treat them lightly.
For a moment I lost some of my rights.
My nightmare came true on that given night.
I was searching my conscience for the difference between wrong and right.
Came up with a lot of things that warranted active might.
Inside was a storm brewing but outside was only regret.
I was acting confession while you were the preacher of right.
I was thinking about the roles we have to play.
You are the hunter while I’m caught in a trap.
I was thinking about how to get out of its grip
Appealing to common sense but in this case it didn’t exist.
I avoided the main streets but I couldn’t avoid the light
That soon caught up with me on that infamous night.
I was taking a short cut with the morning on my mind.
You were only thinking about the numbers next to your name.

#2
02:31
|
|||
When the night falls, she twists the blinds
But her head hurts from too much time
At a place in a room
Far removed from where she should be.
When the light fails, she prepares herself
For the countdown to the prize.
She covers herself with thoughts with prayers
Too scared to jump into the water and miss.
When the curtains are drawn, she steps outside
And walks until she’s tired.

Principles
02:28
|
|||
You sat under a bridge trying to work it out
What does it mean to stick to principles?
The rain fell to earth.
You looked in your bag, you didn’t have much
A well-worn hat and some snacks.
A letter you’d never sent.
The river flows past, it carries things for free.
You hate the word ‘cheat’ and ran from everything
From standing up with pride.
Whatever you were asked, you tried to answer well
And everybody saw you as an innocent.
Is this what you wanted to be?
It’s not so very far to the town.
The wheels still turn with or without principles.

Medicine
02:56
|
|||
We should sit and take our medicine
Every once in a while.
It does no harm to take some medicine.
It sometimes even makes me high.
Don’t want to come down.
I’ll scrap, I’ll steal, I’ll starve or be beaten up
Just to have someone around when everything else is gone.
I never give out any medicine
Because I don’t behave in that way
But storing up all these angry thoughts
It doesn’t make me feel so great.
Don’t want to come down.
I’ll scrap, I’ll steal, I’ll starve or be beaten up
Just to have someone around when everything else is gone.
Hey you over there who talks through gritted teeth
What’s the aim of the game that you play?
Do you want something from us or is it all just a game you play?

People Like You
03:02
|
|||
Fear is within everything
It carves its name on plans and whims.
Fear is a loss, a big disgrace
A stamp on your book, a mark to your name.
But when I know there’s more than home
And more people like you.
I think of ways to propagate
Ideas that we can use.
Regret is a black hole in the ground
If you fall too deep then you may drown.
Regret is forlorn, it’s all alone.
If you take it’s hand, it’s hard to let go.
But when I see you and your energy
I keep both my hands free
To use the feeling to create a reason
That rises high above me.
But when I know there’s more than home
And more people like you.
I think of ways to propagate
Ideas that we can use.

What I've Got
03:37
|
|||
What I’ve got doesn’t come easily.
The times ahead are now shared.
What I’ve got can be taken for granted
Without games, there’s an ease to the days.
There’s a picture in my mind.
I don’t know if that’s all that there is
But if you ask where I want to be
Well then this is the plan.
What I say can sometimes be uncouth
Even if that’s not the aim.
Understanding is a precious gift
And I thank you for having that.
It’s not easy to share
When other thoughts are there
But I’m trying hard not to break
What hasn’t broken yet.
What I’ve got doesn’t come easily.
The times ahead are now shared.
What I’ve got can be taken for granted
Without games, there’s an ease to the days.

The List
03:50
|
|||
He put all of his plans into the basket he had
And carried it everywhere.
And all of the words he wrote in the diary that he kept
Were of the end goal.
Every big house he saw was a sign of what exists
And what is possible
But it wasn’t all about this
A cottage or something small
Was the only thing on his list.
When the times got hard and something had to give
His name was first on the list.
He couldn’t return home so he took the very next train
And travelled far away.
When she picked up the daily paper
His name was on the list but nothing more than this.
When she picked up the daily paper
His name was on the list but nothing more than this.
